A conceptual design of glasses honoring the visionary concept Citroen Karin.

Cars mass-produced by a manufacturer are the product of much research, many tests, some of them completely unrestrained. As a general rule, the public does not get wind of these “styling exercices” most of which never get off the drawing board. But in 1980 Citroën decided to make an exception to this rule by holding a public presentation of Karin at the Paris Salon, a styling exercise and a proposition for a vehicle of the future. The roof of the Karin was only the size of an A3 sheet of paper due to its truncated pyramid shape.[One of the Karin's most noticeable interior features was the unique three-seat layout with the driver located in the middle of the two passengers. Also among its features were a 4-cylinder engine, front wheel drive, and a hydropneumatic suspension like the Citroën DS. Although car manufacturers today strive to incorporate most of the controls into the infotainment system, Citroën already bundled all the controls in the Karin and they guaranteed quick access to most of the available functions. Even some extra buttons were placed on the door panels, which also had built-in monitors, something truly surprising at that time.

Trevor Fiore, Citroën's chief designer during this period, designed an iconic concept car that lasted through time and continues to this day. An example is Tesla motors latest model, "Cybertruck" is clearly influenced by the shape of Citrën Karin.

Karin's design has impacted and endured our visual memory, that's why we wanted to pay tribute to her by designing a concept of sunglasses inspired by this icon.

A stainless steel goggle painted with lacquers in the same shades of the vehicle, finished in acetates, silicone and dark lenses simulating tinted glass. Its shape is clearly inspired by the pyramid-shaped windows, adding a central opening that expands the vision.

The engravings on the part of the bridge reflect the basic shapes of the interior of the upholstery. The glasses in its upper part maintain the linear pattern of the car's bumper and its openings in the elbows with colored acetate emulate the indicators.
